Mick Bates

Originally from the Newcastle in the North East of England I’ve called New Zealand, specifically Christchurch home since 2007.

A Trade qualified Engineer who has held a number of Engineering Management roles my Health and Safety Journey started in 2005 when I was asked to assist in a major site clean up and demolition project. Knowing what I didn’t know, I completed project management training and noticed that I had a significant gap in my understanding of good safety management.

This led to completing a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupation Safety and Health in which I followed with a NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.

I’ve held a number of safety related roles over the last 10 years making the decision to move into consulting in 2014.

I’m a member of the NZISM and IOSH and am committed to the Continuous Professional Development process.
